SAME-SAME but DIFFERENT

These days we take on so many roles, the idea of having a set sense of style is something I have always found hard to stick to. I have minimal days, dressy days, colorful days, possible the only consistent thing about my wardrobe is good jeans, white t-shirts, and now I am playing like Beyonce and making a good pair of vintage sunglasses part of my uniform. BUT at the end of the day I love to find different things from different places, I mean the amount of information available about fashion out there from social media etc makes it hard to not become a serial eclectic with your style or at least draw inspiration from so many sources, one thing I have always loved and will always love about designers of African origin is the breadth of inspiration and stories woven into pieces that there is to draw from. The variety of cultures that brands play around with making concept stores like Nelly Wandji style diversity heaven. Walking into the Parisian concept store that stocks designers around Africa is one of those moments you realize in fashion, designers from the continent might have it in the bag when it comes to diversity of design, aesthetic. Something for each of my many “fashion personalities” lol.

Today featuring some of my favorite pieces from store. I would love to know what you guys think about diversity of designers of African origin or based there, what are some of your favorite designers and brands, what do you love about them. And if you’re looking for some to fall in love with, head over to Nelly Wanji’s gallery for some more of this goodness.

Thanks so much for stopping by as always,
